Instead of dropping out then signing in again when needed. If you’re using Teams or Microsoft 365, login in the morning and stay online for the day. It’s best, where possible, to stay logged into services. That’s because they’ve already passed the ‘border’ checks before those checks stopped working. A page that’s accessible without login?.Do you have an alternative mailbox and contacts for everyone?.Now we’re more reliant on remote communication, it’s time to think about fallback options for when the main system isn’t behaving. Think about what you’d do if your current system doesn’t work. If you rely on Teams, have all involved install Zoom as a backup. Organizations and schools should have an alternative option ready. The Microsoft outage brought many classes and meetings to a halt. Same goes the other way, if you use Google WorkSpaces/Gmail, have an alternate non-Google option. If your email is hosted by Microsoft 365/ have a standby address on another system like Gmail. Have a different email address, hosted by a different cloud service. Make plans for an alternative way to contact your customers, staff, class or other group. There are a few preventative measures available.
